Students in grades 6-12 perform up to 26 percentage points higher when using
award-winning Apex Learning’s digital tutorials
RENO, NV, May 16, 2018 — ASSIST Education and Apex Learning® enhanced their partnership with the addition of adaptive content and digital tutorials into the ASSIST Integrated Education Management System for K-12 schools. The adaptive Apex Learning Tutorials for intervention, remediation, and preparation for high-stakes assessments were proven to improve students’ performance on the Tutorials from pretest to posttest by more than 50% and by an average of 23 to 26 percentile points during the 2016–2017 school year. Students from across the nation used over a half-million middle and high school Tutorials modules. Scores of students who completed unit pretests, 100% unit modules, and unit posttest were analyzed in the study. Tutorials are available now in the fully integrated ASSIST ecosystem, designed by educators as a new approach in meeting the needs of education institutions with a single platform.
This adaptive content has proven to raise exam scores, promotion rates, course pass rates, and post-secondary readiness for students in grades 6–12. This standards-aligned solution helps educators increase achievement by quickly identifying each student’s learning needs and delivering personalized instruction, practice, and review.
Apex Learning Tutorials, a solution newly available through ASSIST Education, supports students worldwide. It provides adaptive remediation, down to elementary level concepts. Students take a pre-test, so the tutorials focus students where they need support. It adapts to the need of the student. This is an effective solution for English Language Learners and other special populations. Tutorials are student driven, with limited teacher involvement.
“The addition of these highly-effective tutorials to ASSIST can significantly help our middle and high school students improve their performance on digital test preparation and core-class subjects,” said Allison Dampier, ASSIST Education’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are often asked for online tutors. This solution is even better, as it is responsive and instantly adaptive to each student’s needs, as demonstrated by a 50% improvement in students using Apex Learning Tutorials in 2016-17, from pre-test to post-test scores on the tutorials.”
“By having an accredited school as part of our educational ecosystem, we can offer full credit recovery options with official transcripts that students can walk away with or roll onto their originating school records,” said Michael Spencer, CEO of ASSIST Education.
In addition to remediation, these new Tutorials prepare students for high-stake exams. ASSIST now features SAT and ACT test preparation that is personalized to the student. Personalized learning plans target skills and concepts where students need the most attention and focused support the need to excel. Studies have shown student achievement to grow over 20 percentile points by using the adaptive tutorials now being offered by ASSIST Education.
Proven to improve student pre/posttest performance, districts around the country implement Apex Learning Tutorials to improve outcomes on state exams and increase course pass rates. With reporting and instruction designed for today’s standards, individual learning plans focus students on what they need to learn to keep on track. Real-time student performance data inform teachers on what each student needs to progress. Learn-by-doing instruction deepens understanding of concepts and provides supports for struggling learners.
Tutorials are available for 6th to 12th grade English and math, and high school U.S. history, and biology. Students can access Tutorials with tablets, computers, Chromebooks, or netbooks.
