Mexican school uses integrated online American system and business model to successfully streamline the educational ecosystem
RENO, NV, Oct. 16, 2018 — ASSIST Education announced that a private Mexican flex school using its ASSIST Integrated Education Management System for K-12 schools, DiME near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is leading the way internationally for other flex model schools. By implementing the ASSIST Ecosystem in a blended learning environment, the DiME Desarrollo en Métodos de Enseñanza flex academy is a first internationally in the way it has successfully streamlined its procedures, allowing the company to pursue aggressive growth goals, including the expansion of four additional flex academies throughout the region. Once the flex academy had the ASSIST ecosystem up and running, they were able to save enough time and money to expand their student population by 35 percent almost immediately. Serving students in middle and high school, this flex school leverages technology and the internet in a traditional learning environment. It uses a form of blended learning with a model similar to a flipped classroom. The fully integrated ASSIST ecosystem, was designed by educators as a new approach in meeting the needs of education institutions with a single platform.

One example of this strategy in action can be found at DiME, a charter/flex academy in the city of Zapato in Jalisco, Mexico. The academy used several disparate systems for school management, grading, curriculum management, student and teacher information and more. This mix of systems required educators and administrators to spend extra time collecting and organizing information for all day-to-day tasks as well as end of term reporting, student promotion, and school master scheduling.

The flex academy faced many challenges. First, its content providers and the delivery systems for that content (LMS / CMS / SIS) did not communicate well with each other or any of their other management tools. Second, there was no efficient way to manage student information. Third, the school’s previous technology had a complicated enrollment process.
In addition, DiME was unable to manage parent and student communication via its own portal. The flex academy also needed to use various systems to support its academic program, such as pen-to-paper management of grade book, and a separate system to manage and deliver important notifications. Another big problem was expensive and time-consuming professional development across various departments that was needed to navigate the separate systems.
Taking Action and Streamlining with ASSIST
To alleviate these inefficiencies, the flex academy implemented the ASSIST Educational Ecosystem to integrate all administrative and curricular processes. Through ASSIST, the flex academy was able to create a single system with hierarchical credentialing that allows relevant data to be viewed only by the appropriate people. Furthermore, with the ASSIST integrated system, the academy was able to provide an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for each student. This ILP allowed students and parents to see the complete roadmap to graduation and gave them the ability to immediately address any problems that might hinder their success.
Finally, the flex academy took advantage of ASSIST’s embedded K-12 school, which is fully accredited for grades K-12. The online content allowed the academy to add multiple new educational opportunities to their curriculum including Business Certificates, US High School Dual Diplomas, and US College Preparatory Diplomas.
