Program for grades 3 to 5 assesses students’ math skills to help teachers determine their readiness for state assessments in math and what concepts need review
TARRYTOWN, NY, May 6, 2016 – Marshall Cavendish Education, publisher of the Singapore Math® curriculum, launched a new online math assessment program, Math On, for grades 3 to 5 with a series of free webinars for educators this month. With more than 1,800 questions, Math On helps educators prepare students for successful first encounters with online state assessments in math and works on any computer or mobile device. The latest math exams are a new world for students. Math On prepares students for success with rigorous questions that mirror the style and level of questions on the PARCC and Smarter Balanced tests. Every question is aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This standalone program supports any math curriculum. Educators are invited to attend a free 30-minute webinar to learn about how Math On can help students achieve the best results on the latest state math assessments, and are available at multiple times on five May dates, starting on Tues., May 10, and Thurs., May 12. May 17, 19 and 26 are also available. Educators can register for their choice of date and time at http://www.mceducation.us/mathon/. All participants receive a free 30-day trial of Math On and one may win a copy of Marshall Cavendish’s best-selling professional development book, “Bar Modeling.”
Math On provides teachers with fully customizable unit assessments that enrich students’ conceptual understanding, familiarize them with technologically enhanced questions, and prepare students for all state and national tests of mathematics performance. The user-friendly program with a colorful interface is a comprehensive and easy-to-use assessment tool accessible to students, teachers, and administrators. Teachers can choose to assign assessment questions in either practice mode with hints and instant feedback for students for formative assessment, or in testing mode for summative assessment, where students answer questions as they would on any state or national assessment. A wide range of question types reflect those used in next-generation assessments, including drag-and-drop, multiple choice, matching, and graphing questions. Students are able to access hints and feedback while attempting questions in formative mode, meaning they learn while they are tested. Straightforward reporting tools allow teachers and administrators to pinpoint problems and review students’ mastery of topics at a glance. Teachers can analyze results by student, test, or class.
Math On provides several exit tickets, a quiz, and a test for each unit. Teachers can use these as they are, modify them, or create their own. Math On’s ready-made assessments are customizable, and teachers can select from an easily searchable question bank to create original assessments.
“As next-generation math assessments transition to computer-based testing, teachers are concerned about online format of tests and new question types, like the need for students to explain answers to assess thinking strategies,” said Vivian Cheng, Area Director US, at Marshall Cavendish Education. “We have answered their concerns by creating a formative assessment solution to help students and teachers prepare for the end-of-year assessments. Math On will fully prepare students for the CCSS assessments. The program is also a great stand-alone assessment package for schools that can integrate with any math curriculum that they use.”
